A Paradigm Shift in Organ-on-Chip (OoC) and Microphysiological Systems (MPS) Technologies

At Ananda Devices, we are dedicated to the development of novel MPS/OoC systems that will help propel more relevant human research and discovery efforts. OoC technologies are critical because they provide a more physiological context for cells that more closely resemble their organization, function, structure and behavior in the human body.

Building Better Human-Centric Neuro Models

With the announcement of the FDA Modernization Act and similar efforts worldwide to reduce animal testing, there is a growing need to advance novel assay methodologies and non-animal testing paradigms (NAMs), of which OoC’s are a key core technology.

Neurological diseases research is a key area where traditional animal models and assay technologies have fallen short. Many human neurological conditions are simply not represented well or even relevant in animals and Ananda Devices has made it our primary mission to develop and build better model systems that will allow broad adoption of accessible technologies and tools to address this need.

Why the Industry is Shifting to MPS & OoC

In addition to the growing need for better models, the industry is increasingly turning to MPS and OoC technologies for several key reasons. These platforms offer more human-relevant insights, improve predictive accuracy, and support the shift toward more efficient and ethical drug development.

1

Improved predictivity

Provide a better model for improved understanding of the efficacy, potency and activity of test articles in advanced human cell systems.

2

Reduced animal testing

Drug failure rates continue to drive increased costs and late-stage program failures. The lack of relevant human models is likely a key contributor to these overall metrics for the industry.

Improving Outcomes in Neurological Health

At Ananda Devices, we believe that the efficiency of the drug discovery process and efforts to improve the lives of patients with neurological conditions can be significantly advanced through human-relevant cellular systems built on MPS and OoC platforms. We are proud to offer two such approaches through our NeuroHTS™ and NeuroMuscle™ products and services, and invite you to learn more in the Products section of our website.
